Attention ICE Baltimore Field Office.
These two brothers were fleeing violence in El Salvador in 2009 at age 14 and 11. They were stopped at the airport by immigration officials. Navigating our broken immigration system as children, they were given deportation orders in 2013. By that point, they had integrated into American society. Both graduated from high school, and the younger, Lizandro, had earned a soccer scholarship to a university in North Carolina, and was getting ready to go in a few weeks.
Neither young man has ever committed a crime (other than coming to the US illegally, AS CHILDREN), and both are contributing members of American society.
It is BEYOND REPREHENSIBLE that ICE decided to detain these two young men, last Friday, 7/28/17, as they came for a regularly scheduled ICE check-in.
I demand the immediate release of these brothers.
Some in our nation may cheer at the Trump administration's dramatic increases in detainment and arrest of illegal, but otherwise law-abiding, immigrants, and the decreases in illegal border crossings. However, I am a Green Party member. In the Green Party, we believe that people fleeing violence, including economic violence brought on by unfair trade policies, should be welcomed in our country and given an opportunity for citizenship.
We see the folly of the anti-immigrant wave being stoked by right-wing media and the Trump administration.
What many fail to realize is that most of the people whom you are detaining actually STRENGTHEN our country. Now that the U.S. is seen as an unwelcoming place, fewer will come, and this will hurt our country in the long run.
More people, willing and ready to work and contribute, means economic BENEFIT. We benefit by having so many of these "illegal" immigrants come and fill positions, pay taxes, buy goods and services, share their culture and skills, and improve our economy and society.
You and the Trump administration are one the wrong side of economic logic, and the wrong side of history.
You may be "just doing your job." Very well. Then, I urge you to look closely at these two cases, and ask yourself, "Did we make the right choice? Are these the the right people to detain and deport?" (Came to the U.S. as children, committed no other crimes, have gone to school, succeeded, graduated, contributed to their community, and are on the road to realizing an American dream....????)
It's time for sanity. Release these brothers.

Yo escribo de parte de dos hombres jóvenes recién detenidos por Inmigración y Control de Aduanas.

Los dos hermanos huyeron la violencia en El Salvador en 2009 a las edades de 14 y 11. Fueron detenidos en el aeropuerto por oficiales de inmigración. Navegando nuestro sistema quebrado de inmigración como niños, ellos fueron dados órdenes de deportación en 2013. Por esa fecha se habían integrado en la sociedad Estadounidense. Ambos graduaron de la escuela secundaria, y el más joven, Lizandro había recibido una beca atlética para futbol desde una universidad en North Carolina, y estaba preparando para irse en unas pocas semanas.
Ni joven nunca ha cometido un crimen (además de venir a este país ilegalmente, COMO NIÑOS), y ambos son miembros contribuyentes de la sociedad Estadounidense.
Es MÁS ALLÁ DE LO REPREHENSIBLE que ICE ha decidido detener a estos dos jóvenes el Viernes pasado, 7/28/17, mientras ellos vinieron para reportarse para una cita regularmente programada con ICE.
Yo reclamo la liberación inmediata de estos hermanos.
Algunos en nuestro país tal vez aclaman la administración Trump por sus aumentos dramáticos en detenciones de indocumentados, pero de otra manera respetuosos de la ley, inmigrantes y la disminución de travesías ilegales de la frontera. Sin embargo, soy un miembro del Partido Verde (Green Party). En el Partido Verde, creemos que a las personas huyendo violencia, incluyendo la violencia económica causada por políticas de comercio injustas, las debemos dar la bienvenida a nuestro país y darles una oportunidad para la ciudadanía.
Veremos la locura de la onda contra-inmigrante siendo cebado por los medios de comunicación derechistas y la administración Trump.
Lo que muchos no se dan cuenta es que la mayoría de la gente quienes ustedes están deteniendo en realidad FORTALECEN nuestro país. Ahora que el EE.UU. es visto como un lugar inhospitalario, menos vendrán, y esto herirá nuestro país a largo plazo.
Más gente, dispuesto y capaz para trabajar y contribuir, significa BENEFICIO económico. Beneficiamos por tener tantos de estos inmigrantes “ilegales” aquí ocupando puestos, pagando impuestos, comprando bienes y servicios, compartiendo su cultura y habilidades, y mejorando nuestra economía y sociedad.
Ustedes y la administración Trump están en el lado equivocado de la lógica económica, y el lado equivocado de historia.
Ustedes tal vez están “solamente haciendo sus trabajos”. Muy bien. Entonces, yo urjo que ustedes examinen de cerca estos dos casos, y pregúntense “¿Hicimos la elección correcta? ¿Son estos la gente correcta para detener y deportar?” (Unos que vinieron a los EE.UU. como niños, no cometieron a ningunos crímenes, matricularon, tuvieron éxito, graduaron, contribuyeron a su comunidad, y están en la pista para realizar el Sueño Americano… ???)
Es la hora para la cordura. Liberten estos hermanos.
