Platform

The Baltimore City Green Party approved a proposal to develop a party platform during 2023. The platform will be a general statement of Green policy recommendations for a wide variety of issues of concern to residents of the City of Baltimore. The platform will exist as an educational document for prospective party members, party members and Green candidates and nominees. The platform will not be binding on any individual party member or candidate. The party will generally be bound by the platform when making public statements on behalf of the party.

Submissions are now being accepted for the following key areas:

Election Reform
Political Reform
Policing/Public Safety
Energy
Public Services
Racial Equity
Environment
Education
Health Care
Housing
Transportation
Taxation
Economic Development
Labor Regulation

After July 15, 2023, additional submissions will be accepted for other areas of concern.

To submit proposed language for a platform for any of the above areas, please e-mail submissions to [email protected]

Submissions must be 500 words or less. The platform will be an evergreen statement of the BGP’s stances on major issues of concern to the City of Baltimore. As such, it should describe the party’s views on issues/systems and not specific pieces of legislation, legislative conflicts, or individual elected officials. These concerns can be addressed outside of the platform through an annual program, endorsements of specific legislation, and other independent legislative campaigns.

The Platform Committee will receive submissions and review them for consistency with Green values, factual accuracy, and consistency between sections.

The deadline for submitting proposed language is September 15, 2023. The membership of the BGP will vote on all proposed language and the platform will be finalized November 15, 2023.

Please contact [email protected] with any questions regarding the platform development process.
